Aclima WoolNet: The original mesh base layer
WoolNet is what most people mean when they say Aclima. It's a merino wool mesh, and in Finland plenty of people simply call it the net shirt.
The open net traps warm air when you stop and lets the heat out when you move. That suits a day of hard walking with long halts in between. Sweat moves away from your skin instead of sitting there and chilling you at the next stop.
Both come in Black and Tarmac, in sizes S to 2XL. The stretchy fit stays out of the way under body armour, a shell or pack straps.
Wear the WoolNet under a shell when you're moving. Add an insulated jacket on top for the long stops.
Aclima LightWool 140 or 180?
LightWool is Aclima's plain merino knit, and the number is the fabric weight in grams per square metre. A heavier fabric is warmer, and a lighter one breathes better when you're working hard.
Pick the 140 for heat and high output. Pick a 180 top if you want one layer that works for most of the year. Both 180 tops come in Marengo and Tarmac.
Aclima Woven WoolShirt
The Woven WoolShirt (199,90€) is a button-up shirt woven from 100% merino wool. A woven fabric is tighter than a knit, so it stops more wind but still breathes.
It works as the outer layer on a cool day in the field, and it looks normal enough for town. You get it in Black or Ranger Green.
Aclima Forester Cap
The Forester Cap (53,90€) is a thick commando-style cap in 100% merino. Aclima has supplied the same cap to the armed forces for years.
It keeps your head warm even when it's damp. Wool also resists odour, so the cap goes longer between washes. It comes in Tarmac and Jet Black. More options from other brands are in headwear.
FAQ
What's the difference between WoolNet and LightWool?
WoolNet is an open mesh that ventilates when you move and holds warm air when you stop. LightWool is a plain merino knit that also works as an everyday T-shirt.
Pick WoolNet for cold days with hard work and long stops. Pick LightWool if you want one top for training, summer and everyday wear.
Is Aclima WoolNet 100% merino?
No. The mesh is 80% merino wool and 20% polyamide. The ribbed parts are 96% merino with 4% elastane.
How do I wash Aclima merino?
Aclima recommends a 40 °C wool programme with wool detergent. Dry it flat and keep it out of the tumble dryer.
Is Aclima wool mulesing-free?
Yes. Aclima doesn't allow mulesing at the farms it buys from, and most of its merino is ZQ+ certified.
Do you ship Aclima across the EU?
Yes. We ship from our warehouse in Helsinki to the rest of the EU. VAT is included in the listed price, and there are no customs charges on deliveries inside the EU.
